What Happens
Events occur. There are the facts about what happened, and then there are the stories we tell ourselves about what those facts mean.
The Power of Interpretation
Some examples of the stories we tell ourselves:
- "They ignored me."
- "They don't respect me."
- "They must not care."
Those aren't facts; they're interpretations. Many conflicts begin when we mistake our interpretations for facts. You can read more about how these stories form in The Stories We Tell Ourselves—and Why They Matter More Than We Think.
They may be true, but there are often other explanations that fit the facts just as well.
Mental Freedom® Perspective
One of the most powerful things we can do for our own Mental Freedom® is to separate what factually happened from what we told ourselves happened.
Learning to separate facts from the stories we tell ourselves is one of the foundational skills explored in the Mental Freedom® Experience.

What story might you be telling yourself that deserves another look?
